Welcome to World’s Wake – The Party At The End Of The World

“No one alive at the time could forget when Venga began to burn. Those too young to recall the particulars of time and place learned quickly of the Conflagration’s existence, its objective apparent in ashen cityscapes, charred bodies, and barren plains. Few ever survived the Fire, and only refugees who fled their cities at the first signs of danger could attest to what became of their kin. Who or what started it, when, where, and how remain unknown; what is assured is the Conflagration is coming and the odds of survival are rapidly dwindling.”

World’s Wake is an immersive rules-light live-action roleplaying game set in an original setting full of sci-fi, fantasy, and cyperpunk aesthetics. Using an impending apocalypse as the catalyst, the story seeks to engage its players with themes of socialization, catharsis, investigation, and resistance, all in a diverse festival format with live music and artistic performance. Seeking solace from the Conflagration, players take on the customized roles of refugees converging on the city of Portent, the last metropolis still standing and host to the never-ending party at the end of the world.

Not everyone in Portent fears the flames, however. There are rumors of a cult that believes the Conflagration is a cleansing only the worthy will survive. Part secret society and part prophetic movement, the true believers of h e l l m o u t h might be charismatic, but they aren’t always welcome. The Hellfire Draught is my tribute to these clandestine characters, these children of the flames that I – as a character and a storyteller for this event – have a special place in my heart for.

World’s Wake 2020 is scheduled to take place April 25th to May 3rd at the Showboat in Atlantic City, NJ – a mostly deserted, likely haunted casino hotel with an amazing play space – but we need your help to get the word out.

To promote the event and spread it far and wide, we are currently holding a special raffle from now until February 29th. Tickets are earned through shares on social media, passing out fliers, and getting friends to sign up. There are a number of prizes, but as a Grand Prize I will collaborate with you on a custom drink recipe for your character! I’ll even share it with you (and a friend of your choosing) in a special VIP meeting.

Choose to play raver angels, neon cyborgs, dandy dragons, rockabilly demons, corporate goth corpses, or wasteland wanderers, and join me as I toast the party to end all parties.

What will you do at the wake for the end of the world?
