Inspired by the world of Harsh Generation, the PanaGEL Tonic is a delicious, electric blue concoction made from craft gin, blue curacao, lime juice, and cream of coconut. A splash of tonic water gives it both a bit of carbonated texture and an interesting bitter tang. This gin cocktail is sure to cure whatever might ail in you and your post-apocalyptic gang of cyberpunk misfits.

What is Harsh Generation?

Harsh Generation is a post-apocalyptic storytelling game with a strong cyberpunk and deiselpunk aesthetic. Inspired by rulesets like Powered by the Apocalypse and Fate Core, the dynamic, self-generating system allows for on-the-fly scenario creation and ever-evolving plot based on character actions and reactions. Set in future America, the world of Harsh Generation is both unique and creatively detailed.

The brain child of Emily O’Neil, Harsh Generation reached its initial Kickstarter goal of $2k within a week of launch. With still a few weeks to go, extra funds will go towards stretch goals that will add more depth to the game through art and lore writing. If tabletop and storytelling gaming is your thing – or you just really love cyberpunk – I urge you to check out this incredibly detailed setting for yourself.

The PanaGEL Tonic

The recipe for this cyberpunk cocktail is a gin-based twist on the traditional Blue Hawaiian tiki drink. PanaGEL is a medicinal curative in the Harsh Generation setting, which – of course – is a bright blue in color; just like blue curacao.  I decided gin would be a more fitting ingredient than molasses-based rum, knowing that the clear distilled liquor would be far more accessible to make in a futuristic wasteland. The splash of tonic makes the whole drink otherworldly, as the bitter quinine leaves an almost a medicinal or chemical aftertaste. Despite how that might sound, the overall cocktail is semi-sweet and infinitely refreshing – like a cross between a gin and tonic and a tropical fruit drink.

Oh, and did I mention that quinine glows in ultraviolet light? How cool is that?

Whether you are playing a post-apocalyptic storytelling game like Harsh Generation or just want to give the cocktails at your party a futuristic twist, this cyberpunk inspired PanaGEL Tonic will get you some glowing reviews.
