Fall is almost on us. Chilly weather is starting up on the east coast, and here I am, a bit under the weather. It’s been something of a slog getting through my daily schedule, but I’ve been doing my best. Spending the weekend with a pair of friends definitely helped. We took a trip out to the Maryland Renaissance Festival and enjoyed some gorgeous weather. It was the first trip all but one of us have made to that faire, and we really enjoyed it. Compared to other renaissance fairs we’ve visited, the food and drinks were plentiful and more reasonably priced than we were used to, and there were a lot of interesting vendors. Definitely worth a visit if you can make it before they close up on October 22.
I also made a visit to the Brandywine Festival of the Arts this weekend. There were some fabulous artists in attendance, and the event was much bigger than I expected. Food wise, I really enjoyed taste testing the flavored balsamic vinegars at the New York-based Seven Barrels booth. One of the most fun and unique offerings of the festival could be found with What She Said Pottery. Lindsay Ostafy makes beautiful handmade mugs, inscribed with all sorts of funny, off-color, and pop cultural sayings to help you get through your daily grind. Check out her work for some great gift ideas this holiday season!
