Well, I’d hoped to have this post up before Thanksgiving, but regrettably time has gotten away from me. The move has completely thrown off my planned schedule, but the plus side is that all of that will be done with in about a week and half. Hopefully, you still find these fall event ideas and tips useful during this busy season, and perhaps the Simple Citrus Cider Cocktail will be a welcome relief after a busy day of Black Friday shopping!
Sometimes you need a dessert that impresses; one that looks like it came right out of a restaurant kitchen. Today’s dessert recipe is decadent, perfect for fall without being cliché, not terribly difficult, and best of all, naturally gluten-free – Maple-Bourbon Pumpkin Crème Brulée. As I mentioned in my last post, pumpkin pie was one of my favorite desserts growing up, second only to death-by-chocolate cake. As an adult, it’s very hard for me to pass up crème brulée when it appears on a restaurant menu. For a long time, I think part of that was because it was something […]
I’m incredibly excited about today’s recipe. I spent a lot of time perfecting this one over the last couple of weeks. I tried various versions using different kinds of squash. I experimented with the cheese and pasta ratios. I even tried out different roasting methods. The end result is gooey and comforting like a decadent mac and cheese, but with the health bonuses of my favorite winter squash. Plus, there is bacon. Needless to say, I really love this recipe for Roasted Pumpkin Baked Pasta, and I hope you do too.
The second week of November has come up on us quickly, and it would be an understatement to say it’s merely been eventful. This time of year is one that craves comfort foods under normal circumstances. On top of an already busy and stressful time, I’ve been feeling under the weather this week and I need them now more than ever – maybe you feel the same. In that case, it seems all the more reason to share something hearty and beautiful that you can make and share with the people you care about: the first entree to appear on this site […]
Over the last few weeks I’ve been reading a lot about the colonial American tradition of the Election Cake – Have you heard about this? I pride myself on learning obscure, historical reasons to celebrate just about anything, but until I spotted articles on the topic a few weeks ago I had no idea this was a thing. There’s a been a lot of negativity this election season, and with November 8th so close (and with my love of history piqued), I immediately had to know more – and I knew I had to make my own cake to bring back […]
A homemade Citrus-Sage Syrup and a dash of apple cider are the keys to this delicious Honey Bear Bourbon Cocktail. Perfect for a chilly autumn day!
